Fall Back

Happy All Saint's Day!
Halloween has come and gone. A very expensive holiday is past; so much money for the candy companies and so much fun for the kids. Jones was a baseball.

Katie made the costume. At first he was a lot afraid of it, but with a little bit of friendliness, I was able to help him like the ball.  First I showed him how to look inside of it.  Then we gave it a snack. Soon he was comfortable with it.

So what have you been doing this Halloween-All Saints Day?

September

Well another month has come and gone.  Lita and Nigel live with  me and in the evenings we play cards. According to Lita's records I have won the most games I am not so sure though. I have also been playing games on the computer and of course reading.
I read a great book called The Land of the Blue Burqas.  It is about a woman's life in Afghanistan, very interesting. According to the author a woman has about as many rights as a camel and is often treated like one or even worse than the camel. From the book I am also seeing life in the Middle east from a historical prespective.

School started this week.

School started this week and I only drove by once to see what was happening with the building plan. the school where I taught was built in 1951 and an addition was added in 1961.  After all these years they are  building a new school.
ON Wednesday night Cathy Geyer and I went to Kramer and drove around the crushed gravel road to see what changes have happened.  The hill where we used to go sledding is now a big hole for a basement.  The busses now drive around to the back black top to drop kids off for breakfast and school.  I guess they dismiss out back too. In the front there is all parking. No more grassy area by the gym. But the kids can still play on the back playground.   I wonder where they have Phys. Ed classes?  I think I should take a picture.  Maybe tomorrow morning.

What To Do If you are a Retired Teacher?

This week had some interesting events occur.
It rained some so I didn't get to swim, but I did walk three days. Whoo! Whoo!  Not for long though. I must not get discouraged.
For the first time in a long time I got to have lunch with the retired Kramer lunch bunch. I heard some funny stories about former students. I enjoyed soup and salad. And I have two prayer requests.  Susan Gresham and Marilyn Young have cancer. We also learned that the teachers at Kramer have no where to park. The parking lots are where the new building is going to be. So glad I retired. Its also going to be a hot first week of school and a five day one at that. School starts on the 17th of August.
ON Tuesday morning I went to have blood drawn at the hospital. Now you sign in and wait a long time to be told to walk down to the Lab.  The technician found some blood in me, and took out 7 vials for the tests I have to have done. I still have a bruise. It is fading though.
Thursday I did some running around to Richmond, Indiana and got tickets to the Indianapolis zoo.  We are going tomorrow for Lita's birthday. And I got Lita's presents.
Friday, daytime I cleaned the OBF kitchen. And then  last night I went to a Missoula children's theater. The kids there preformed "The Little Mermaids" not the Disney or Anderson version. It was a bit long for me as I didn't have any children in it. The story was cute and the kids did a great job for one week of  practice.
Also this week I had two nights of cards playing Hand and foot. Fun family night.

Trying hard not to avoid people and to have a good time. Even if I am a retired teacher. FYI I have only bought a few school supplies: two boxes of markers, two erasers and one package of notebook paper. Total spent $3.00 yeah me.6+*999999999999999994555555555  thanks for the help cats!

MId year check up

Have I mentioned I hate growing old?
Discovered a new problem last weekend. I can't swim under water any more. Well, I can. I just can't go as far or as fast.
So today I resolved to exercise more. Seems like I said that before.  Like everything else, you just have to do it. FYI medical bills are not what I want to spend my retirement on.
Checking up on my goals for this year: I did go to  Lita's wedding. So that is a done.  That is about all though.
I promise to do better in the next 4  months.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
Yes I know it is February and almost Joe's birthday. I can't help it if I am never home long enough to work on this blog and to really figure out what I am doing. The traveling makes me miss home and all I want to do is curl up with a good movie or book when I get home.  So every week I go to Katie and Dustin's on Monday and babysit baby Jones until Thursday night and then I drive home. If I have energy I plan to do something on Friday and Saturday and then it is Sunday and time to go back.
So far I haven't done much; mostly only go shopping!
I tried to go to see Monica one Saturday. No energy.
So Do I have a list for this year? I need to see what last year's list looked like.
Well:
I had planned to eat better, exercise more, take control of my reading, writing, and finances. As well as improve my prayer life and my Bible study.
I am most proud of how well I have taken charge of my Bible study and finances.
This years goals:
1.  Eat more fruit and vegetables by trying to include two at each meal.
2.  Exercise every day.
3.  Have a daily quiet time.
4.  Try a new craft.
5.  Read and write some every day.
6.  Things I would like to do:
      a. Go somewhere I have never been.
      b. Call my sister more often.
      c.  Find some antique children's books.
      d.  Finish my embroidery projects.
      e.  Take a vacation.
7.  Go to Lita's wedding.
8.  Help the poor in a meaningful way.
9. Visit Jonathan and Lauren in Denver.
10.  Plant flowers with Alicia in May.
